Organisation Theories

Interpersonal Interaction model
Role Structure  This is where my placement falls into on the interpersonal interaction model. The role culture is a culture where there is a  rule of law with clear responsibility and rewarding systems. It provides stability, justice and efficiency. Weakness is impersonal operating procedures and stifling of creativity and innovation.
Risk and feed back model Work hard play hard culture (sales driven)
Recession
(2010) Miller “Recession is the state of the economy declines; a widespread decline in the GDP and employment and trade lasting from six months to a year.”
Due to the recession clients can not afford to be having massages and treatments to help them pre and post exercise to either relax or help with injury.
They are working more on cutbacks and promoting what they have to offer in order to boost the clientele from what it was in 2010. Consisting of Cheap packages for couples to have treatments, Buy one get one half price on treatments, When clients have a treatment they get 10% of the products used,Putting brochures in the local community to draw people in from the near by areas, Taster treatments in the local area to draw people in for the full treatments and Christmas shopping and pamper days.
Physical Structure

People associate experiences with particular places and this allows physical structure to evoke meaning.

People link organisations physical structure to social status which can increase productivity.

Positives of My Organisation

Communication at Aqua sauna is a positive side to the organisation and on how each memeber of staff at all levels work together.
At Centre Parcs / Aqua Sauna the communication between different levels of staff from the manager to the supervisor, then to the general staff. At Aqua Sauna there is a morning briefing to prepare them for the rest of the day. This is where the manager and the supervisor appoint the general staff specific jobs and what massage rooms they will be working to give different treatments. The different members of staff are qualifies in different types of massage therefore the manager has to make sure they assign the right treatments to the qualified members of staff. (2004) Graham et al “We describe specific clinical experience in the application of briefings, properties of high reliability care.”
This quote relates to the briefings that occur in the workplace and by the briefings taking place it gives the customer a high level of care. A briefing also takes place in the afternoon after their shift has finished this round’s off the day and briefs the staff on what went well and what needs to be improved for the future. The briefing also gives them feedback from what their client has said about them and their level of care and effectiveness of the massage. The clients are asked to fill in a questionnaire on their masseur and to hand it in at reception this is then where the manger collects them from at the end of the day and shares the feedback with each member of staff. This gives the staff praise where earned and criticism to work on.

Governemnt initiatives used at my placement.

There are many contemporary issues and government initiatives in sport at this present time such as the Recession, health initiatives, Sport England, 2012 Olympic campaign, Lottery funded for schools, every child matters and obesity in sport.
¢2012 Olympic campaign
(2006) www.bbc.co.uk/sport  “A national School Olympics and a £600m funding package for athlete training were the key parts of Gordon Browns plan.”
¢Lottery Funding
(2010) http://www.uksport.gov.uk/ “UK Sport supports the UK’s top sportsmen and women, and those on the performance pathway, to train and compete against the best athletes in the world, by funding sports national governing bodies and direct to athletes through personal awards.”
¢Every Child Matters
(2009) http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/ “Interlinked with youth Sport Trust and Sport England to ensure that all children and young people have access to a varied and stimulating range of sports. Encouraging young people to adopt healthier lifestyles, enjoying sport in a safe environment and striving to achieve success are all key aims of the Every Child Matters agenda.”
These Campaigns besides the recession are mainly effective in sports clubs, schools and gyms they don’t really come up in the leisure industry
